ccj Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 I have a question and I haven't been able to find the answer. I know there are cavalry generals and I know many generals were a la suite (honorary) ranks in units entitling them to wear the uniform of the regiment. Were there Jager zu Pherde general ranks or a la suite ranks to Jager zu Pherde regiments?
Glenn J Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Charles, apart from the Kaiser who was the "Chef" of Regiment Königs-Jäger zu Pferde Nr. 1, there were no instances of General officers being appointed à la suite to any of the Jäger zu Pferde Regiments. Regards Glenn
Naxos Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Glenn beat me to it. Here is a pic of WII as a Jg.zu Pferde General
ccj Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Opinion of what rank this shoulder board represents. At first I thought it was a major but after a second and third look...
Naxos Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 How can you tell its Jager? Just askin... Kragen, Revers und Ärmelaufschlag (collar, lapel and cuffs)
Glenn J Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Charles, not to mention the brown leather pouch belt. A couple of thoughts: the colours appear to match JRzP Nr. 3 and the board is that of a Generalmajor. Perhaps it is the board of an Oberst retired with the uniform of JRzP Nr. 3 and then recalled to service in WW1 still as an Oberst and then later promoted to Generalmajor. Karl Frhr. v. Langermann und Erlencamp who retired in 1912 and commanded a reserve dragoon regiment in the war fits this scenario. Regards Glenn
Naxos Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 General rank for sure - but could it be the shoulder board of a Korpsintendant 1935 - 1940 (with yellow Nebenfarbe)?
ccj Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Kragen, Revers und Ärmelaufschlag (collar, lapel and cuffs) Zing... Okay, I didn't spend a lot of time looking at it but off hand the collar and cuff didn't look jager zu pherde to me but I'm wrong. Edited April 14, 2013 by ccj
Glenn J Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 The intendance branch had red nebenfarbe and that button is Prussian. Regards Glenn

Glenn J Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Charles, Most certainly. Krause, volume 2, page 594 states that it should be noted that the officers of wartime raised cavalry formations always wore the uniform of their peacetime parent unit unchanged. Regards Glenn
ccj Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 What year was von Langermann promoted generalmajor? Was he entitled to wear the cloth cross of St John?
Glenn J Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Charakter in March 1918. No Johanniter in 1911 but maybe awarded one after his first retirement. Regards Glenn.
Dave Danner Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 No Johanniter in the 1919 Gotha, but again, maybe later.
ccj Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Ok, so maybe the cross was added later or the tunic didn't belong to v Langermann
