PIKESLEY ORD R.N. arthur charle baden pikesley was my great-uncle.my older family members say that he died by going over a ship i think that was after the war as he not on the cwgc site and he has 2 lots of service paper.so he must rejoin the royal navy after the war. as his two service numbers are k55307 and j86161 am one happy man to find a family member medals.today the medals came safe in the post.paul pikesley Edited May 23, 2013 by pikemedals
paul wood Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Well done. You are lucky to have such an unusual surname as Pikesley. The chances are that if any medals come with that surname they are most likely to be related albeit distantly. Alas with surname like Wood I could probably fill two medal cabinets with medals named to Wood and find that none of them are even distantly related (I like to think Sir Evelyn Wood is a relative but alas this is not the case). Nice find.Paul

Mervyn Mitton Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Paul - sincere condolences on the loss of your Grandmother. However, to have located so many family groups at least gives you a reason to feel happy. Best wishes Mervyn
Guest pikemedals Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 the end medal on the boer war group is a corps of commissionair long service medal and the little silver badge was for 10 years service and 10 pounds in the bank and the silver medal for 20 years and i think it was 100 pounds in the bank. a bronze medal was issued for 15 years and 20 or 50 pounds in the bank.i don't know if you give back the bronze medal to get the silver or you keep both if so am missing a medal ?.i never seen a bronze and a silver medal together in a group. thomas heare was my great-great-uncle.for a working class man to have 100 pounds in the bank in the 1940s was alot of money back then .just hope my 2 sons love the family medals as much as i do and look after them when i go !
