Guest Rick Research Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Told you the Traveling Museum would be bringing by more sparklies to be Epsonized! obverse and reverse The owner's not sure where exactly to date this, since the separate enamelled very RED (rather than painted "lila") short winged eagle fits someplace 1840-60-ish. My fellow Autengruber stable author Arnhard Graf Klenau in his 1997 "Die Verleihungen des preußischen Roten Adler Ordens in der ersten und zweiten Klasse von 1810 bis 1854" shows 13 of this class 1830-45, and 8 from 1845-54. So we're in the ballpark of roughly two dozen awarded, folks. Where is Andreas Schulze-Ising when we neeed him???? Edited July 18, 2013 by Rick Research
Guest Rick Research Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 It's 60mm x 60mm with the loop in form of a clip to easily remove from the sash bow. There would also have been a breast star with this, of course. (Good luck with THAT, too!)
VtwinVince Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Ach du lieber Gott, I won't be able to sleep tonight.
W McSwiggan Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Until now I've only seen ink renderings of these and the Crown Order with Diamonds shown earlier. Very grateful to the traveling museum and the forum for the chance to "see" the real thing! A joy to behold!
