Chris Boonzaier Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hi, can someone give a basic lesson on those double magazine pouches? Apparently most on the market are Portuguese, sometimes restamped to fool collectors?
E Williams Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Sorry Ed had other things happening plus UPS had a hard time finding me. EricA luger...............remember back a few months I posted a request from anyone that should come across a photo of a german soldier with a luger and attached to it was a lanyard? That request I just echoed for another collector that probably is the upmost collector of Luger leather accessories. No one has ever came across one ...so far. That lanyard is based on a Portuguese lanyard and they did have them and it could be an original. I have one and I will attach it also to a cavalry unit marked Luger when I finally acquire one. It is an exact copy of one and up to a few days ago, was the only copy of any item in my collection. The double mag pouch was an artillery item of issue and most found today are of Portuguese origin, most but not all. There are many german artillery origin mag pouches to be had....post some close up photos of it's markings.

E Williams Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Eric....here is a 1977 photo of a Portugese Luger with attached lanyard in Guns and Ammo:
Hoss Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Yea your right the news is bad the lanyard is not German but Portuguese what's the thoughts on the non maker marked pouch and issue stamp? Eric
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hi, I am definatly not an expert on these... here is a Portuguese one.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Model-1935-GNR-Portuguese-National-Police-Luger-Two-Mag-Pouch-Marked-A-E-/251418006861?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a89ae554d&nma=true&si=ce08iaYjQTomOdNL9LopQhuyBEk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I think they usually have the AE stamp on the back
Hoss Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Thanks Chris well it doesn't look the same bit miffed on the lanyard Porto means nothing to me, bummer.
E Williams Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Give me a few minutes on the pouch.....I can't say but I know who can. Personally I don't like the marking but that's my opinion. Ed
E Williams Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 It's legit and german, WWI and more info with PM inbound.
Hoss Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Thanks Ed Had another look there is a faint stamp in the inside just below the BA ink issue, half of me wishes UPS were still looking for me lol! Eric

Chip Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I think Eric's pouch is a good period piece. I like the ink stamp. Eric, if you don't like it, I will be happy to take it off of your hands. Chip
Hoss Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Its yours along with the lanyard thingy this experience has put me right off lugers...blooming things. Eric

E Williams Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Hard luck Ed btw you didn't bite, I love me guns mate God Bless the US Eric I didn't bite by not asking you to sell me your Bavarian MG Luger? You bought the last one, I knew you wouldn't sell that so I knew you were full of bullshite. I've given up of finding another. I have four MG Lugers....that's enough. Got my sites on one other though.
dksck Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 My bad photography and my worse computer skills mean that this may not work, but I thought someone might like to see them. Thanks
dksck Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I am trying to restore some lugers and have pretty much exhausted the search for parts in the US. Can any one point me toward sources of parts for lugers in the UK or Germany? Thanks
