Laurence Strong Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Thanks for that information Rick. So from looking at your stat's there were not to many Korvettenkapitan (W). Also appreciate the proper terminology
Guest Rick Research Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Yup. I may be wrong, but I think these boards with the "Stegen" to slip into the shoulder seams were--on blue underlay--ONLY worn on the knee length dress frockcoats. So there were maybe forty or so different guys TOPS who ever held that rank (some moved up)...compare THAT with two pip Wehrmacht generals for "relative rarity" and... these win. Here are a couple of Maat ratings I haven't seen come up yet, for blue and white uniforms. This is some sort of anti-aircraft detection specialty, but I don't know the correct German rank term:[attachmentid=9471]

Marcus H Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Naval Administration officers breast eagle I think
Marcus H Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 I was under the impression this was a Petty Officers breast eagle......I don't really know.Looks a bit lop sided, probably a reject knowing me !
Laurence Strong Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) Hi Marcus. Thanks for the contribution. Always nice to see someone else's stuff.I am not to good at this but here goes1st one would be Marineartillerymaatrosen, I think and the other one is for a Maschinenlaufbahnmaatrosen. Not sure what that is.I would be more inclined to say that it might be an officer eagle. Edited September 6, 2005 by Laurence Strong

I do not have any grand childern yet. Hopefully I have a while before that happens I have been focusing on LW collar tabs as the uniforms have been getting more and more expensive lately! Laurence Strong Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) On entering the Kreigsmarine service all personnel were assigned and trained for a specific career. These careers consisted of a wide variety of trades and functions with some trades restricted to certain rank groups. On succesful completion of the appropriate training, personnel were issueddistinctive career insignia to be worn on the upper left sleeve of the uniforms. For EM/NCO's the career insignia could be worn combined with the rank or as a separate insignia. Regulations dictatedthat the base color of the insignia was to be the same as the uniform color worn. The specialist career insignia for EM/NCO's was introduced in 1933 and was somewhat different fromthe standard career insignia as more in-depth training was required and the insignia were red instead of the gilt metal, golden yellow or corn flower blue that was used on the standard insignia. The specialist career insignia remained in use thru out the war. Some new additions:EntfernungsmesserRange finder Edited October 1, 2006 by Laurence Strong
