Yup. I may be wrong, but I think these boards with the "Stegen" to slip into the shoulder seams were--on blue underlay--ONLY worn on the knee length dress frockcoats. So there were maybe forty or so different guys TOPS who ever held that rank (some moved up)...

compare THAT with two pip Wehrmacht generals for "relative rarity" and... these win. love.gif

Here are a couple of Maat ratings I haven't seen come up yet, for blue and white uniforms. This is some sort of anti-aircraft detection specialty, but I don't know the correct German rank term:

I've been hard pressed to post something no ones posted already, not that I have an quarter as much shown.

    Hi Marcus.

Thanks for the contribution. Always nice to see someone else's stuff.

I am not to good at this but here goes

1st one would be Marineartillerymaatrosen, I think and the other one is for a Maschinenlaufbahnmaatrosen. Not sure what that is.

I would be more inclined to say that it might be an officer eagle.

    Lawerance,

Thank you for posting your KM collection.

I especially like your shoulder boards! How long have you been collecting these?

    Thanks Paul.

I have only been collecting in ernest the last year and a half, prior to that I was raising a family etc, and money was always needed elsewere.

I don't know why the KM side of the house got so big, maybe because I am part newfie, but I served in the army and not the Navy, though Dad did. I have recived some new stuff that I will be posting this weekend, I have my Granddaughter over the weekend and it's hard to work on the computer as she want's up to play on it :D

I do understand how busy and expensive family life can be. I do not have any grand childern yet. Hopefully I have a while before that happens :o

I have been focusing on LW collar tabs as the uniforms have been getting more and more expensive lately! Even the collar tabs have been getting up there!

I can hardly wait to see your new finds!

On entering the Kreigsmarine service all personnel were assigned and trained for a specific career.

These careers consisted of a wide variety of trades and functions with some trades restricted to

certain rank groups. On succesful completion of the appropriate training, personnel were issued

distinctive career insignia to be worn on the upper left sleeve of the uniforms. For EM/NCO's the

career insignia could be worn combined with the rank or as a separate insignia. Regulations dictated

that the base color of the insignia was to be the same as the uniform color worn.

The specialist career insignia for EM/NCO's was introduced in 1933 and was somewhat different from

the standard career insignia as more in-depth training was required and the insignia were red

instead of the gilt metal, golden yellow or corn flower blue that was used on the standard insignia.

The specialist career insignia remained in use thru out the war.

    Some new additions:
