paja Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Greetings gentlemen, I would like to present you different types of Bravery order from my collection. First (and my personal favorite) Soviet production, Monetny Dvor, obvious signs of wear but a very nice number - 229. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-80030200-1380634694.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-11093100-1380634916.jpg Edited October 1, 2013 by paja
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Couple of close ups. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-16730500-1380635167.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-65382200-1380635231.jpg
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Yugoslav production. numbered IKOM, relatively small number - 20652. I've never seen their order with number lower than 10k. There are some speculations that IKOM started from 10k, but as far as I know there are no certain information on this matter. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-86649400-1380635996.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-67176500-1380636061.jpg Edited October 1, 2013 by paja
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 One more numbered IKOM - 34854. This time a complete set, with older type of box with a Cyrillic inscription (ОРДЕН ЗА ХРАБРОСТ) and a document. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-91986500-1380636616.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-58179200-1380636662.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-97237000-1380636672.jpg

paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Unnumbered IKOM. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-74321400-1380637437.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-01214500-1380637478.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-22814800-1380637489.jpg
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Gilded unnumbered IKOM. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-77230600-1380637760.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-91349900-1380637772.jpg
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 ZIN #131075 http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-11884400-1380637984.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-88310700-1380637998.jpg
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 One more ZIN #144981 with "interesting" ribbon. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-43516500-1380638132.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2013/post-7937-0-08690800-1380638143.jpg
paja Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 That would be all from me for now, if you have interesting pieces, especially with different types of boxes and/or documents I would be very grateful if you could post them here. Kind regards, Radmilo
utopis Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Well done! Especially the first one is a great piece - a worn early war award is probably the best it can get. Now it will be interesting to try dating the different types.
Rogi Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Fantastic collection of Orders of Bravery Radmilo Its been a busy week so far but I have to add in this one from my MT Pukovnik Peronja's collection Serial number 74634 Great idea for a Bravery Order thread and reverse: I think this is a great idea because we can then establish from where abouts certain Orders date from. Which without the archive and very little resources elsewhere will prove even more valuable for Yugoslavian collectors in the future. Edited October 2, 2013 by Rogi
paja Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Thank you both for kind words! And thank you Igor for posting your order with document in this topic! We can see that #34854 was awarded on 18. of February 1946, and #74634 on 8. of March 1948. so it would be logical that #54927 was awarded somewhere between those two dates and #20652 before February '46. When it comes to ZIN and unnumbered IKOM I am completely clueless. I forgot to mention that there are two theories about gilded unnumbered IKOMs, first that that type was issued on recipient's request as a duplicate and second that it was given to senior officers. Gunner 1 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Monetny Dvor Order of Bravery numbered 480.
Gunner 1 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 And the case the above Monetny Dvor issue came in.
Gunner 1 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 IKOM gilt unnumbered issue and the case it came in.
paja Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Monetny Dvor Order of Bravery numbered 480. Great find with excellent number, seems to be very well preserved! Thanks for images.
paja Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) And the case the above Monetny Dvor issue came in. Your MD and early IKOM box from above look pretty similar. Apart from perhaps small difference in size the inscription is different - Latin on yours and Cyrillic on mine. Edited November 10, 2013 by paja
paja Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Do you maybe have documents for these awards? It would be great to see when was that #480 awarded...
Gunner 1 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 The two boxes do look somewhat alike. I have no documentation for either of the awards that I posted and have no way of verifying whether the boxes actually came with either of the awards or were added later.
paja Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) When it comes to Soviet order I think it originally came with that box, I've seen them in that type of boxes before. Actually I've seen them in only two different types of boxes which on the outside look more or less similar. And this is the first time I see that gilded one in a box. Gunner 1 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) paja: Looking at the catalogue for the Rauch sale you appear to be correct as they show both the box illustrated in post #4 and the one in my post as being associated with the Soviet Order of Bravery. paja Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Yugoslav numbered decorations usually have the number handwritten on the back side of the box. Unfortunately I think that Soviets didn't do the same or am I wrong? Is there a number on the back side of your box?
Gunner 1 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 paja: There is a number written on the bottom of the box and it matches the number on the medal.
