    Guys,

Some Iron from the past year, Don already helped me out with spotting the catch replacement on the 'pillowback', then about a month or so later I got another with what I think is the original system, it looks a bit flimsy?

The others are unmarked and one is slightly convex.

I am not the best with a camera, sorry!

Smashing crosses Jock. I like all three. Possibly the pin itself may be replaced on the second pillowback, I've only seen round pins or the "coke bottle" shape like your other one but it's only academic anyway as it's been very well done and looks period from what I can see.

    Really nice.

yep, both AWS examples have had their pins replaced with other contemporary (or 30s/40s) styles. as glenn states, the proprietary type of pin for AWS is either a coke bottle style or a thin round pin, with a blunted end or an extremely sharp pointy end.

    all four are very nice!

Has anyone an original pin system to post here as a comparison, may be useful for others in the future?

I guess this thin pin style you all mention was prone to failure and a bad design, how un-Germanic.

I don't know who made the first cross (pic 1+2) or the other in the trio, just random crosses, I shall dig out more!

    Cheers.

    Jock:)
