Dave B
Hello all,Just received in a few pieces of Imperial EK2 ribbon but I'm not sure if they are original They feel right and they do not glow under blacklight but the edges do not have the "scalloped" effect I like to see,the edge is very "flat" just like repro ribbon.Any opinions good or bad will be appreciated.CheersDave[attachmentid=28467]Close up.[attachmentid=28468]

Stogieman
While I'm sure that despite the fact that there are reels and reels of "old stock" "War Ribbon" available, someone will/would probably make a new one. But it sure as heck will not be in silk and/or cotton. These look like silk in the photos. Anybody else have thoughts? The fun part is finding the old 1813/1870 cotton ribbons. They are very different from WW1 style weave/materials!
Tony
Hello Dave,As you know, I'm not an expert but they look to me too.Below are two examples, one I bought with a cross and the other belongs Lars' g grandad's cross.Tony
Dave B
They are what I like to see Tony, compare the edges to mine.I know obviously there can be variations but my ribbon is just like repro ribbon.Dave

DavidM
HelloI can't see anything wrong with these ribbons. As you say, some have the more pronunced 'humps' on the outer edges but I have seen genuine original ribbons that are pretty 'flat' along the outside as well. But these on show here look ok to me. Chris Boonzaier
The fun part is finding the old 1813/1870 cotton ribbons. They are very different from WW1 style weave/materials!Does anyone know when the cotton became silk weave?I have some NC ribbon from a pre WW1 roll... it is silk weave, a finer weave than the later WW1 ribbons...At what stage between 1871 and 1914 did they start producing ribbons like that?ThanksChris
Marcin L
Well, what about these two ? One is "ultraviolet free" and one is not... which one is good (if any?) ?
