Chip Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 A friend has a Saxon Husar Attila (H.R.18) coming that has a tailor's label showing it was the property of one Graf von Schaffgotsch. I don't find him in the Ehren=Rangliste and I don't have any Saxon Rang-Liste. Could someone fill me in on any details about this officer that might be available? Thanks, Chip
Glenn J Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Chip, presumably Leutnant Franz Graf Schaffgotsch. Commissioned into 1. Husaren-Regiment "König Albert" Nr. 18 with a Patent of 28.11.13. He appears in the 1914 Saxon army list as well as the Ehrenrangliste on page 919 which shows he died as a Leutnant a.D. on 29 September 1924. He was the holder of the Saxon Merit Order Knight's Cross 2nd Class with Swords and the Albrecht Order Knight's Cross 2nd Class with Swords. Regards Glenn
Dave Danner Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 His full name was Franz Egon Gotthard Maria Ferdinand Leopold Graf Schaffgotsch. He was wounded in 1918 while serving with 6.Kompanie, Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 100. The other Graf Schaffgotsch in the Ehrenrangliste, who served in the Prussian Leib-Garde-Husaren-Regiment, was his older brother.Hans Ulrich.
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 His full name was Franz Egon Gotthard Maria Ferdinand Leopold Graf Schaffgotsch. I bet he got teased at school!
Chip Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Thanks all. I can't figure out how I missed him in the Ehren-Rangliste. I must have had my glasses off! Appreciate the help. Chip
