Chris Boonzaier Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Hi, I assume this is a Russian Imperial badge? Is it a Regimental one? Thanks Chris
TacHel Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Nicholas II cipher... But apart from that... A bit out of my comfort zone. A souvenir from the coronation? A military insignia? What are the dimensions? Small enough for a lapel pin? Big enough for a cap badge?
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 A bit smaller than an Iron Cross, I dont have it in my hands yet... It seems to have been souveniered in 1916 along with the guys belt buckle. Best Chris
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Nicholas II cipher... But apart from that... Ahhh... I think you are on the right track... must be from his personal Bodyguard :-) ;-)
paul wood Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 A Suite of Nicholas II badge, difficult to tell how nice it is without a better photo.,Paul
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Hi Paul, Thanks, I will hopefully have the pics by the ned of the week. What is a Suite of Nicholas II badge for? From what I can see, this was taken from a Russian Soldier in the Karpathans in 1916. Best Chris
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Hi, I found a mention of the badge... I suppose there are different qualities for different ranks of the badge, this looks to be an Other Ranks one? Fotos to follow if the Mail does not loose it. best Chris
paul wood Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 This looks like a gilt lower ranks badge for pageboys, NCOs and privates in the Imperial Suite. Paul
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks, I hope to have it in a day or so, will post pics as soon as it is here.
paul wood Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Chris when you do receive it please post both sides.Paul
JapanX Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 This looks like a gilt lower ranks badge for pageboys, NCOs and privates in the Imperial Suite. Does it?!
JapanX Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Actually I`ve never heard about badge for "pageboys, NCOs and privates" Badge in posts 11-12 is not a badge, but sign on cross-belt for the Life-guard hussar regiment of His Majesty.
paul wood Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 That's a particularly nice badge, the one in question looks of considerably inferior quality. Paul
JapanX Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) As far as I know there were three types of badges (all established on January 21, 1909) Badge for those holding the ranks of Major-General and Rear-Admiral in the Suite of the Emperor Nicholas II Badge for those holding the rank of aide-de-camp in the Suite of the Emperor Nicholas II Badge for those who held two ranks in the Suite of the Emperor Nicholas II and that`s it. JapanX Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Obviously that badge in post # 1 has nothing to do with these badges. It looks like ugly phantasy fake. Like this one http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/59736-russian-1918-civil-war-st-george-medal-info/ P.S. Sorry misinterpretation of Patrikiev's translation Believe me dear Paul you were the only reason for my posting in this thread!
JapanX Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 P.S. Just to give you an idea how rare these are Paul In 1914, in the Imperial Suite were 51 adjutant General, 64 major General and rear Admiral and 56 aide-de-camp
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Here is the front and back of the badge, it has been repaired. It originally had pins left and right, so it may have been a collar badge ?
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 The rest of the souveniers in the group.....
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Here is the complete group... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/60600-3rd-jaeger-regiment-group-with-russian-souveniers/
TacHel Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Woa... Now that I see it in relation to a belt buckle and buttons, it's about 1/2 the size I expected it to be... It's actually small enough to be a mere lapel pin.
