Hello Ross,

I really like these helmets, a very nice specimen and thanks for posting it.

While not militaria I think it will be seen more often in this section than in the non-military section; I hope Mervyn agrees.

Ross - a Merewether Chief's ? We have tried to get away from the - 'post a picture' - if you can add any information it

enhances the post and encourages interest. These old Fire helmets have become valuable collectors items and prices have

risen steeply. I always regret selling a Brass Chief's pattern for the Johannesburg Fire Dept..

We never see a lot of Fire Brigade material - however, I fully agree with Brian that this is a good Forum if you have further

ones to add. Meervyn

Sorry Mervyn, was just thinking that members may liked to have seen an unusual fire helmet. I have no idea what Fire Brigade it came from, otherwise would have put a lot more information on. I do have another one from Manchester and will add it when I get to take some photos,

The badge suggests a "generic" version which would have been available for purchase by one of the hundreds of small UK fire brigades (including the many private & industrial set -ups) which existed pre. second world war.
