Paul C Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I purchased a Bayern Officer's Tunic and when I got home and looked in the inside pocket I found a very clear maker's lable from Munich and the officer's name which is Artur Gestering of the Bayern 1 Inf. Rgt. In 1909 he was a LT with a date of rank of May 27, 1903. He was promoted to OberLT on December 15, 1911. As of 1914 he has no other promotions and was awarded only the Bayern Jubilee and Lepoald medal. If anyone ahs any additional information that would be great. Thanks.
Deruelle Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Hi Paul, In 1913, Oberleutnant Arthur Gestering was in the I.R. Nr. 1. I don't find Luitpold cross. He won the MVO4bX on 16.7.1915. No Hohenzollern.RegardsChristophe
Paul C Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Christophe, do you know his rank in 1915?
Deruelle Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Sorry Paul, I forgot. He was a captain when he received the MVO4bX.Christophe
Ulsterman Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Hmmmmm....this name rings a bell. Out as a Hauptman? characterized as Major in 1919? Recalled in 1935 as an OberstLt?Try the Axis biography forum. I thing he'll show up.
Guest Rick Research Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 There was no (E) officer named Gestering.I don't find anything more on him, Paul.
Paul C Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 I was told by a fellow member the Artur Gestering may have been SA/SS in the '30. I do not have the research sources. Does anyone else?
