JensF. Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Hi guys, I think about buying this one but a medal is missing. Any idea which one? Maybe a coronation or jubilee medal?
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Hi, what is the name and rank on the GSM? Best Chris
JensF. Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Unfortunately I don't know it and the seller did not mention it.
Odulf Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Hmm, could be anything, but likely a Long Service Medal of Efficiency Medal. As these are named, it will be a hell of a job to reunite it with the rest of the group...
Mervyn Mitton Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Jens - surely you can contact the seller and ask him for the name details ? Personally, I wouldn't be too quick to buy a group with a medal missing. Mervyn
JensF. Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Ok, I've asked the seller and he said, its almost impossible to read the engraving on the General Service Medal. The others aren't engraved.
paddywhack Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 if you can get me a name i can check the 35 37 53 coronation rolls!
Tony Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 It could be a made up group mounted by a collector or perhaps if the ribbons weren't overlapping they might fit on the bar meaning the bar is complete. Can the seller not read the recipient's name, number and rank because he doesn't own a magnifying glass or because it's been partially erased? In my opinion that's something you need to know before spending and money on it. Tony
JensF. Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 I got an answer from the seller. Only some numbers are visible on the GSM, nothing else. I think I will not buy it. Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
Michael Johnson Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 It sounds like he name-erased the GSM and decided to keep the Long Service/Efficiency/Coronation. Michael
