laurens777
Hello I am brand new to this forum. I came here for some help to identify a medal. I think that it is a Russian medal. Any information on this medal would be great.
laurens777
I have some more information. Someone has told me that this is a specialist medal. It shows what a soldier is specialized in. It usually goes with another pin which either has a 1, 2, 3 or an M on it denoting how good he is. If this is true what specialty is this, and how do i know if it is an original or a fake? Thanks in advance for anyone who has more information on this.
NavyFCO
It's for a military-aeronautical faculty member at VPA...I'm assuming an air academy. I see no reason for it to be fake...the value is around $3-$5 USD. Hope that helps!
TacHel
The main question now is... Is it pre or post 1991?

Paul R
Those look like Ukrainian colors. Could it be from the Ukraine?
NavyFCO
Those look like Ukrainian colors. Could it be from the Ukraine? No, those are the colors of the Air Force flag. I wish I could tell you if it was pre or post 1991, but I'm not familiar with the badge. Without a hammer and sickle, I'd wager it as post-1991, but that's just a guess on my part. Greg Collins
NavyFCO is right on target with the translation and, based on the look of the badge, I would guess it's a light alloy with paint, pin backed ("znacki-quality"). Based on the plane, I would say it's a fairly recent commemorative-type badge.

Gents, As NavyFCO notes, the badge denotes a member of the Air Force faculty at the ВПА - Military Political Academy. JapanX
This badge was issued by Air Force Faculty of Moscow's Political-Military Academy named after V.I. Lenin in late 1980s - early 1990s https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C2%EE%E5%ED%ED%EE-%EF%EE%EB%E8%F2%E8%F7%E5%F1%EA%E0%FF_%E0%EA%E0%E4%E5%EC%E8%FF_%E8%EC%E5%ED%E8_%C2._%C8._%CB%E5%ED%E8%ED%E0 After 1994 the name of this academy was changed to Military University of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation
