    Deutsche Reichsbahn portrait

    Recommended Posts

Thank you very much Morten. :)

Here is an even earlier photo. The cap insignia was introduced in 1924 and the "Bahnpolizei" cuff bands that several of the men are wearing changed to "Bahnschutz"

in 1927. So the photo was taken between these two dates.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Lovely photo of a Bahnschutz Hundfuhrer with his working dog. Thanks for posting.

It is strange that more people don't collect DRB photos. The Third Reich would not have functioned without its railways.

Here are some DRB civilian employees on their way to work. The truck is a Polski-Fiat.

    Cheers,

    Larry

Larry, I think that the reason is not about the role of the Reichsbahn but the availability of information about RB uniforms.

The same applies to e.g. Reichspost, Organisation Todt, NS-Frauenschaft, Red Cross and many other uniformed organisations.

Good research books, when available, are expensive and collectors with a small purse rather buy pieces for their collection instead of investing in building a reference library; also because it is possible to put all questions on forums.

Some more RB photos from the early 1930s.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply and the nice early DR photos. I agree with everything you have said. While people collect civilian, NS and paramilitary items the amount of collectors in these fields is reasonably small

and as you have said specialist information on these organisations can be scarce and expensive. Another reason for the lack of good information on these organisations is there were so many of them.

There was an organisation, club or association for just about every facet of life during the Third Reich period. This the main reason why I collect photos on that theme. They are harder to obtain and

some of the subject matter in them is rare.

Here is another photo of a DRB man standing in front of his 8-tonne A. Fross-Bussing truck. What is nice about the photo is that the truck has a Deutsche Reichsbahn number plate.

    Cheers,

    Larry
