Jock Auld Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Guys, A nice clear picture of these lads. I wonder if they removed their shoulder straps in mind of security? Jock
Odulf Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Interesting photo Jock! and I wonder why they are wearing only half tapes (Tressenbesatz) on the collar, and to me it looks like these are of silver...
Paul R Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 They seem silver to me as well. Interesting photograph.
Glenn J Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 The abbreviated collar Tresse appears to be very similar to the pattern introduced into the Reichsheer in 1931 to denote a NCO candidate. Regards Glenn
Jock Auld Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Guys, I can't remember where I read it but it was a similar theme. It applied to the Army and it stated this style was adopted as a 'war time ecconomy' that was about the gist of it. I am not sure though it was a while back, I do remember it was a post war reference book so may be wrong? Jock
Glenn J Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Jock, just checked Zienerts "Unsere Marineuniform" and I quote from page 244 - introduced per MVBl Nr. 9 of 15 April 1929 "Geprüfte Unteroffizier-Anwärter bekommen einen kleinen Winkel aus silberner Litze vorn auf jede Seite des Kragens." Regards Glenn
Jock Auld Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Glenn, Thanks for that, every day is a school day! I will have a look at my books but they are mostly the comercial post war reference books, maybe something about it in Uniforms & trads of KM somewhere. Thanks again Jock
Jock Auld Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Glenn, You are spot on, p34 para D of Vol 3 above publication. Cheers Jock
