Stuka f
Still trying to identify the chap, so any help is welcome. It seems to me the buttons look like Garde Civique... The medal he wears is a long service medal for administrative services. The bust is signed by Frantz Vermeylen and dated 1887.
Stuka f
I managed to solve one part of the enigma! The guy is a lieutenant colonel of the Garde Civique. Only need to find his name. cheers |<ris
Stuka f
Garde Civique items are rather rare to find. So great was my satisfaction when I managed to find this bugle. And it is not the end, also found very nice shoulder pieces. All from different sources. cheers |<ris
Odulf
I think that he is a Lieutenant of the Civil Guard (a Lt.Col. would have a crown and two pips). Significant for Civil Guardsmen are the typical shoulderboards, which are commonly called: "Mayonaise"
Stuka f
Thanks Odulf! But I found out all ready, as stated in my second poste. Maybe a mod could help in adding "Garde Civique" to the title. I am hopping to get the "Mayo" real soon, because I managed to find a nice pair on the net. cheers |<ris

Bayern
Stuka : Curious , interesting , The mayonnaise shoulder boards are very simmilar to the french treffles , used by hussards chasseurs a cheval and dragons , here in Argentina , some guys calls mayonesa , the gold yellow braid over the peaks of colonels and generals service caps . going back to the Garde my topic view was till now that of a group of mustachoed middle age men armed with Comblain rifles wearing large greatcoats and a sort of tall melon hat .inclusive i ignored they have field officers and distinction between infantry and chasseurs .
