christerd Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) I don´t know were to put this really ? Since the 27th Jaeger Batl was an Prussian Unit but with mostly Finnish volunteers... Maybe its interesting to share some info about this unit ? I have a lot of info and pics to show you , lets begin...... The unit was born August 26th 1915 and troops was to be foreign volunteers lead by German officers . 66 Finnish soldiers was upranked to build up the group which was called " Ausbildungstruppe Lockstedt. " Later in May 9 1916 it was named Königlich Preussisches Jägerbataillon Nr. 27 The 27th fought on the Eastern front in 1916 to get experience and combat training. Additionally to your infos I can add, that Major Bayer cam from the Inf.Rgt.27 (by chance the same number..) The bataillon consisted of four Jäger companies, one engineer company, one MG company, one platoon light field-howitzers and one music-corps.
