larsb001 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Gents, just a small Swedish group of miniatures with 2 Chineese decorations. Provenience is Erik Nordström (1884-1971). He was commissioned after a recommendation by the Swedish minister Gustav Oscar Wallenberg, the Envoyé of Japan and China, as Post General in Shanghai at the Royal Chinese General Post Office in 1910. The aim was to help facilitate its work throughout China. He was positioned in several of the Chinese provinces. He retired in China in 1945 and spent his last years in Qingdao before his return to Sweden in 1948. This would of course explain the Order of Telecommunication. The miniatures, except for the North Star and the Postal Jubilee medal is nice Gold pieces.Enjoy!
922F Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Interesting Group--thanks for sharing!! Have you an image of Nordstrom?
larsb001 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 Unfortunately I don't have a picture, you cannot find one on the net. But he once wrote a book called Postman in China for 35 years, I would imagine there would be a picture, It's not available in the libraries here, but maybe one day I'll get a copy?
us57 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 There are not many images of him in his book, but here are 2.
larsb001 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 This was a most pleasant surprice on a saturday evening, thanks alot for showing these. I wouldn't have expected this book to be part of many libraries.Regards, Lars
JapanX Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Exellent group, Lars.As always If possible, please post the reverse
us57 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Dear Lars,I have just finished reading the book (it is in Swedish). If you are interested in the book, please contact me (us57@hotmail.com).
larsb001 Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Hi Nick, a loooong time ago you asked for a reverse scan of this miniature group, here it is, sorry for the delay!
larsb001 Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Included in the lot were also his Swedish Postal Jubilee Medal with a beaten up case plus a delegates badge for the Postal Jubilee in Stockholm in 1924 (never saw one before). And a badge I assume is a kind of Swedish-Chineese friendship union badge. I do know the discussion of splitting up groups, but as the group were incomplete anyway I will probably sell these things apart from the miniatures later on. None of his full size Orders were present.
