Stuka f Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 A friend of mine asked to check this medal, could you help me please?
dedehansen Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Hi Stuka f,please ask your friend about better pictures from the front, back andif there are some hallmarks too.RegardsAndreas
Stuka f Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 Hey Andreas, there are marks but they are not clear. To me it is ok, just don't know how old it is...
paul wood Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Kris,Appears to be 1810-30 type, but whether German made or not difficult to tell, certainly nice.Paul
Stuka f Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 What you said could exactly match, Paul.It seems the guy also has a wax seal bearing the coat of arms of the original owner, showing the medal next to the legion d'honneur. It might well be a French made medal.
dedehansen Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Hi Kris, very nice early one, here is a link showing the several types http://www.medalnet.net/Rote_Adler_3.htmI´m not sure if it is a prussian made one. Maybe you are able to recognize the hallmarks?!Maybe someone is able to identify the family crest.RegardsAndreas
Great Dane Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I don't think it's a Legion d'Honneur on that seal. It seems to have 4 cross arm instead of 5./Michael
paul wood Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Looks very similar to a an Order of the Bath.Paul
