mihaizaha Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Dear colleagues! I got recently this Order of the Patriotic War. How can you differentiate the ones awarded during the WW2 from the ones of a later issue. Thank you very much in advance for any help! Mihai Zaharencu.
Rogi Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) This is a 1985 issue. The look of the WW2 orders looks different as the OPW1 is gold while the 1985 version is gold gilt(like plated) A really easy tell if you cant tell the difference is that the engraved number is underlined and thicker on a 1985 version. I hope that helped. Edited January 9, 2016 by Rogi
Ferdinand Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 It's even easier to look at the hammer and sickle - on the 1985 version they are part of the award, while the earlier OPWs had 14-carat gold H&S emblems that were riveted to the order.
