order_of_victory Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 While browsing www.russianglory.com I noticed that the seller had two different variations of the medal for the 3rd Anniversary of the October Revolution for sale the usuall one in Silver and one in Brass Does any one have information on this medal and how many variations there are of it?
Alfred Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 (edited) As I know only this two versions exist. A silver medal and a brass one.The medal is dedicated to the 3rd Anniversary of the October Revolution, It was issued in 1920. It was awarded to participants and organizers of the session of the Petrograd Soviet. The medal was never part of the Soviet award regulations. It has more a status as a badge or jetton.About ~3.000 medals are given out to participants of the session and ~400 bronze medals by that who participated in its organization. regardsAndreas Edited March 23, 2006 by Alfred
order_of_victory Posted March 23, 2006 Author Posted March 23, 2006 So did the brass version have less status than the silver versioni.e like the Partisan Medal 1st and 2nd class one is brass colour and on is silver colouror did they both have the same status?
Alfred Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I don?t know. But I think, as they are not part of the soviet award system they have no status.
HuliganRS Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Stay away unless you know what you are looking at!There are more fakes than real ones.Even major delers have sold fakes!

Stogieman Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 There was an interesting Ukrainian anniversery medal that popped up in germany this week. Gut reaction was it was good piece, but wgere the heck would you ever be able to confirm that!??
Guest Darrell Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 (edited) It's amazing that the medals shown show such nice details on the medallion itself, but then it appears someone has used a drill to make the hole for the ring In fact the whole knob on the top looks very crude. Not that I'm saying real ones are not like this, just an observation .... Edited March 25, 2006 by Darrell
order_of_victory Posted March 25, 2006 Author Posted March 25, 2006 Here another example of a third anniversary of the October Revolution wich is up for sale on Collect Russias site, when I get mine back I will post a pic for comparison......
Chris S Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Here's one I have...taken at oblique as the shine from the front gives limited detail...Chris
