paul wood Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Nice Hashim, Either of the stars named or any other attribution. Paul
Hashim.A.Khan Posted October 26, 2016 Author Posted October 26, 2016 One of the sitara e harb is named, these medals belong to my grand father Regards Hashim
paul wood Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Hashim, The Sitara e Harb is a very collectable medal as they are named and if you can find them to officers researchable. I am glad that your grandfather's medals are in good hands. All the best, Paul
Hashim.A.Khan Posted October 26, 2016 Author Posted October 26, 2016 Hey Paul Heres a picture of the only medal thats engraved Regards Hashim 1
paul wood Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Hashim, Very nice indeed, thank you for showing the reverse of the Sitara e Harb. Your grandfather had a long and distinguished career, do you have his service records? Paul
Hashim.A.Khan Posted October 27, 2016 Author Posted October 27, 2016 Hey Paul I have limited information regarding his career, all the information is from relatives and family, he died before I was born so I have limited information though regards Hashim
Paul R Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 What a great set. I am glad to see it stayed with the family, where it belongs!
Hashim.A.Khan Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) Hey Ulsterman Really appreciate your words, I'm currently trying to put together a miniature medals set, that complete the set Regards Hashim Hey Paul Family medals are a privilege, thank you for the comment Regards Hashim Edited December 7, 2016 by Hashim.A.Khan
Ali Nouman Posted September 24, 2022 Posted September 24, 2022 Sorry to break it to you but these are FAKE. Firstly: The Second last medal should be Hijri Medal 1979 Secondly: Since these include the 10,20 and 30 years Service Medal (which were instituted for the Generals in 1991 and for the rest in 1992) this military set should include the Jamhuriat Tamgha (Democracy Medal) - 1988 and Qarardad-e-Pakistan Tamgha (Resolution Day Golden Jubilee Medal)- 1990 1
paul wood Posted September 25, 2022 Posted September 25, 2022 Simius I agree. What I will say is that the mounting is recent, it is probable a remative found them loose in a drawer and had them attractively mounted, the named medal is clearly halal. Paul
Ali Nouman Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 These may belong to your Grand father but still these are fake. Where's the Hijri Medal? Even Defence Personnel on duties to the Gulf Countries (Building their Armies and Air Forces), got that as well. Even my dad, posted to the then Abu Dhabi AIr Force received his Hijri Medal in 1981 and the ribbon 1980. One more thing, considering this collection has the Republic Medal 1956, and the 10, 20 and 30 year Service Medals, which were introduced to the Generals in '92 and given to everyone else by 94, where are your Grand Dad's Democracy Medal 1988 and 50th Jubilee of the Pakistan Resolution Medal 1990. HENCE PROVEN: IT'S A FAKE
Ali Nouman Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 "Suppose the owner of this medal bar elected not to mount these common commemoratives (issued to practically everyone including the wash room attendant) along with his important gallantry, military merit and long service awards? " Bro, It's the army. A few more ribbons on their chest are like the new PLAYSTATION to them
Hashim.A.Khan Posted February 2, 2023 Author Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) I can confirm that all these medals are real. The mounting was redone as the medals were not in the best of condition once I inherited the lot. The ribbons were redone and the medals were polished. The 10, 20 and 30 year medals were added later as my grandfather was eligible given his service spanning more than 3 decades (I did consult several individuals within the army who agreed that these medals could be added). Here is the picture of the set before it was restored. Edited February 2, 2023 by Hashim.A.Khan correction
