johannis Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Hello. I have bought today this Italian order of the Crown medal. In the box stands L.Suscipj Corso Umberto I 258 Roma. Because I've seen the first time, I've tried to find information about him, Unfortunately without success. Do anyone know more about L.Suscipj? Can anyone the medal dated, is WWI or WWII? Belong the medal and the box together? Thanks for any info. Best regards, Jannis
922F Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Any stamps or marks on the badge or ribbon ring? Some outfitters retailed insignia made by other firms but in cases marked with their own logo. If made after1934, there should be manufacturer marks identifing the original maker.
johannis Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 Hello. Thank you for your reply. I have today won the auction, the pictures are from the auction, So I can not know if a manufacturer marks has. I believe like you, that he was not a manufacturer. If I have received it,I will looking for manufacturer marks. If I find any, will upload the pictures. Thanks, again. Jannis.
claudio2574 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 (edited) The orders were usually made as jevellery objects, unlike the ordinary medals. There can be a manifacturer mark or not. The box for sure is appropriate. The order is not related to the wars, so your question about WW1 or WW2 is not correct. Having the knots made of thin wire, you can guess it is a late production (after 1930). The Suscipj jewellery was established in 1825, as you can see from this invoice dated 1896 and this ad of early 1900 Edited May 4, 2017 by claudio2574 mistyping
johannis Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 Hello. Thank you claudio2574 your informations are very helpful. I know,I use both world wars as a time frame orientation. Best regards, Jannis
Graf Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Hi Johannis, Many times the Order and the box are not from the same maker or period. That is because down the time many collectors and dealers mix and match them The ribbon looks very new to me When you get the Order you can check for any makers marks Perhaps some more advanced collectors of Italian Orders can identify the period of your Order from the picures Best Graf
