Chris Boonzaier Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Hi, this is not one I know... are they wearing something Austrian?
The Prussian Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) Right! That´s it! Edited June 6, 2017 by The Prussian
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 6, 2017 Author Posted June 6, 2017 Hi, I did not know it was one of the "accepted" ones for bavarians? I guess even less official than the 11th Bav Inf Div etc.?
The Prussian Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Hi Chriss! No, they all are the same level... NOT ALLOWED! The only cap badges, allowed by Wilhelm are the Edelweiß and the Karpathenkorps-badge
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 6, 2017 Author Posted June 6, 2017 HI, but at least the other unofficial ones are German!
The Prussian Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 (edited) Only the bavarian ones are german. All the others are austrians, like the Edelweiß Edited June 6, 2017 by The Prussian
coldstream Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 So excuse my ignorance, am I right in thinking then that these Badges are completely unauthourised for wear according to Army regulations but tolerated at Unit Level or by individual Commanders? Simon
coldstream Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Many thanks Andy, always trying to learn something new!

Fritz die Spinne Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Great to see this one in use. I am avidly following research by "The Prussian" and compiling my own collection.
The Prussian Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Hello Fritz! Great collection!!!! Which one is the Mackensen one at bottom right, please? German, bulgarian or turkish badge?

German, bulgarian or turkish badge? Turkish. A fluke find cheaper than most German or Bulgarian. I traded it off for something better. I'm shooting pics of the updated Kappenabzeichen, since I now have K.B. 10. Inf. Div. at last.
The Prussian Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Lucky guy! The turkish one was the most expensive badge in my collection. For several weeks I only had bread and water...

For several weeks I only had bread and water... For me it left me eating as usual, but I flipped it in a trade for something else that would have had me on peanut butter sandwiches for a month. Here is what I have currently. The three at the bottom are post-WWI Verein (one for kb 10.IR, which is the primary regiment I collect). I recently bought the 22 Schuetzen. Div because of the Bavarian button design, and see they were in the same Korps, but I was uncertain past that if any Bavarians would have been wearing it.
The Prussian Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Very nice, indeed! What´s the one bottom left. "Flieger"? I try to collect only those, which could have been worn by german troops. Sometimes I have photos, sometimes it´s juts a guess...

Found this image for sale, and with Chip we deduced the badges as shown:
