Mattyboy Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Hello all, Does anyone know what these awards are besides the Iron Cross? Thanks,
laurentius Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Dear Mattyboy We can see an Iron Cross 1st class (OEK 1908), which is clearly sown onto the uniform! You don't see that too often, furthermore there is a mecklenburg militarverdienstkreuz (MVK) 1.st class (OEK 1350), the badge on the left looks a bit similar to the Prinz Alfons erinnerungsabzeichen and I don't know the badge on the right. It looks like something that could come from the saxon/thuringian states. Kind regards, Laurentius

This kind of badge could be for a wedding-jubilee, but I don't know which. This is the Alfons-badge
Mattyboy Posted September 23, 2017 Author Posted September 23, 2017 Hi all, Thanks for your comments. I couldn't find anything matching this award online either. Attached is the photo in it's entirety - I think the name on the reverse is General Buchholz, but I've not heard of him before...
Dave Danner Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Generalmajor Adolf Buchholz, *9.11.1866 in Dargun in Mecklenburg, †9.11.1958.
Beau Newman Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 (edited) If I squint hard, it appears that the 5th from the left on his medal bar is a Hindy so, the 1946 date on the back may be when the photo was taken. Definitely post-1934. The 2 odd badges could be some kind of postwar thing, like a jubilee or adjutant badge for one of the ex-royals. The one on the right could be anything from foreign to some kind of veteran's group badge. Edited September 26, 2017 by Beau Newman
laurentius Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Dear Mattyboy I did some research and I found out that the badge on the left is the ´Großes jubilaumsabzeichen zum 50. jahrestag des 2. Lothringisches infantrie-regiment nr. 131 1881-1931 Kind regards, Laurentius
