Hauptmann Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Next up is a Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class. This was another Ebay purchase which I think I lucked out on... as if I remember correctly I paid around $15 for it. I'd waited years to get some examples of this award but they always seemed to go for too much. So glad I waited.I keep hoping I'll be able to find a case for that one down the road as I think that will really set it off. I'm one of those folks who loves cased awards. Almost to the end...Dan
Hauptmann Posted February 27, 2021 Author Posted February 27, 2021 Been a long time but finally managed to get the other pin type. I've seen the type I already had referred to as the female award... no idea if this is true or not. But, here's the other type.
speedytop Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Hi Dan, to differentiate male and female awards, you should have a look on the dimensions: male 55mm, female 47mm. Uwe
Gordon Craig Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Dan, As Uwe says, the difference is in the size of the cross and not in the type of fastener if that why you refer to your crosses as male and female. The difference in the fasteners is probably related to time of manufacture and not if the cross is a male or female award. Regards, Gordon
