Chris Boonzaier Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Hi, can anyone identify this? I have never seen one like this....
GreyC Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Hi Chris, a specialist from a German WW1 forum (Feldgrau-Forum) identified it as a rare bandolier for Schneeschuhtruppen from Bavaria later also worn by colleagues from Wurttemberg. GreyC
Bayern Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Hello Chris, I agree , the man portrayed wears the uniform of the Wurttembergian Mountain troops
Chris Boonzaier Posted March 16, 2019 Author Posted March 16, 2019 Hi, I was told on FB that this was a special bandoleer for the small discus grenades....
Bayern Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Hello Chris, They looks too narrow to hold a circular shaped grenade .
Chris Boonzaier Posted March 17, 2019 Author Posted March 17, 2019 Hi, apparently for the small diskus grenades, the larger ones will not fit.
GreyC Posted March 17, 2019 Posted March 17, 2019 Hi, I would still go with special ammo-pouches. The bags for disk-grenades were larger and were carried on the waistbelt. https://www.feldgrau-forum.com/threads/was-ist-das-fuer-ein-ausruestungsgegenstand.31583/#post-127900 GreyC

One collector said the 1913 and 1915 disc grenades are different sizes, this being the smaller one, quite a few are for ammo pouches.
