VtwinVince Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 I acquired this medal bar from a fellow member many years ago, so long now that I forget his name. It was missing the MVO and had a spurious LSD in the last place, so I fitted a 1905 MVOmdK and an officer's LSD. I'm not sure if this combo is possible, but I think it's a nice looking bar.
waldo Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Servus VtwinVince, i think this wasn't a ribbon bar buckle made by an officer. I think that another DA and a MVK 1. Form belong here. There are of course other options. Does the EK 1870 belong to the ribbon bar?
VtwinVince Posted December 31, 2020 Author Posted December 31, 2020 Hi Waldo, You're probably right, as the LS medal in the last position when I got the bar was from the WW1 period and only for 9 years, so I assumed it wasn't correct. The EK was on the bar.
VtwinVince Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 I've swapped out the MVO, so hopefully this is a more likely combo. Any ideas on which LSD belongs? Possibly one of the small Schnallen?
ixhs Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 I like the bar - but i`ve never seen such an early bar with this "Nicholl" hooks on it. I would let the bar as it is now.
waldo Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 (edited) So the medalbar looks better except for the DA. A DA for NCOs and soldiers should go here. In contrast to the 1st class, this DA cross 2nd class could only be awarded to officers and higher military officials. The 1st class could also be awarded to lower ranks (see attachment) Edited January 5, 2021 by waldo
VtwinVince Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 Thanks Waldo, this is what I suspected. Do you think it should be an earlier Schnalle-type or a later medal?
waldo Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I think there should be a medal. Or maybe a LandwehrDA 1st or 2nd class. All of which is speculative. l.
