Deutschritter
Gentlemen, I am looking for the promotion dates and WW I decorations for Generalleutnant Bernhard von Hülsen. I have the feeling, this otherwise good site (http://prussianmachine.com/korps/huelsen_bernhard.htm) has many dates mixed up with his older brother General der Infanterie Walter von Hülsen. Deutschritter
No problem, David, I am sure, someone can help. About the name: Gottvertrau means trusting in God, Bernhards son was named Wolf Hermann Otto Jobbe Ehregott von Hülsen (Oberst of the Wehrmacht), Ehregott meaning honoring God, Wolfs son was named Claus Dietrich Olaf Jürgen Lobegott von Hülsen (1930–1991), Lobegott meaning praising God. They must have been a really religious family.

Glenn J
Further to my earlier post please find the general's entries from the Offizier-Stammlisten of the 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß, 1913 and 1935 editions. Interestingly, the Stammliste gives a different date of the award of the character of a Generalleutnant. 25 September 1920 is the date given in the Militär-Wochenblatt. It's indeed not often read or heard, but it certainly is real, and has a rather sad background. Please check Wikipedia, if you want, for the meaning and even a list of notable namebearers...

Deutschritter
By the way, there is also a third brother, the oldest: Ernst Carl Adolf Walter Ehregott von Hülsen (born 25 April 1860 in Berlin), 16 November 1879 Sekondeleutnant (2. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß?), 22 November 1902 Major, Platzmajor and Repräsentant der Garnison Berlin. Sadly I do not know his last rank and if he served in WW I. Maybe he was the von Hülsen, who died as Oberstleutnant 1912? Edited January 24, 2022 by Deutschritter

Ernst von Hülsen received the character of an Oberstleutnant on 17 September 1909 and a Patent as such of 13.9.11. He retired on 19 June 1912 and died on 24 July 1912 in Schierke, Harz. Walter von Hülsen was a full General der Infanterie. Promoted on 12 June 1921 with a Patent of 1.10.20. Regards Glenn

Klasse. The Ritterkreuz I. Klasse became the order's 3rd class with the new 1905 statutes. It was called BMV3a prior to that.
