chester
Hi I have portait I'm trying to do a little research on. Would any body know the regiment? and any information on medals would be really appericated. Thanks Keith
coldstream
Keith, A bit late I'm afraid but I believe the medals represented are The Distinguished Service Order, Queens South Africa Medal with five bars and The King's South Africa Medal with the usual two bars. Regards, Simon.
muckaroon1960
Collar badge looks similar to the Ox & Bucks Light Infantry.
coldstream
Assuming his DSO was awarded for service in the Boer War he will hopefully be listed here https://www.angloboerwar.com/medals-and-awards/british/1884-distinguished-service-order You may wish to go through these looking at any Light Infantry Regiment recipients and hopefully find a match and confirm his identity. Farkas
Hi Gents, it always strikes me as odd when people ask a question then don’t come back for the answer… This however gives me the excuse to post a picture of an similar Ox & Bucks tunic (1 of 3) I have, their facings are white not red… Gents, does that red collar in his picture look right to you? Doesn’t to me. I haven’t looked but is a red collar even ‘a thing’ by Edwardian times?? I wonder if the picture was colourised? tony 🍻 On 29/05/2022 at 19:36, coldstream said: Keith, A bit late I'm afraid but I believe the medals represented are The Distinguished Service Order, Queens South Africa Medal with five bars and The King's South Africa Medal with the usual two bars. Gordon Craig
Tony, The photo does appear to be colourized. The medals would appear to be a DSO, QSA and KSA, as said above, but totally the wrong colurs for the ribbons for those medals. Regards, Gordon

Thanks Keith Going by the buttons I would say Durham Light Infantry and if so the facings should be dark green. Pete.
