paul wood Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 I believe it is connected with the Kosovo campaign of 1915 which ended with the Serbian retreat to Albania following defeat by mainly Bulgarian central power troops, It is a commemorative rather than an official medal. P
BalkanCollector Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Bulgarian medal of the 9th Division. This division was from Pleven if I'm not mistaken. It says "9th Divison" at the top of the medal and the rest of the text are geographical locations (cities, towns and mountains) as follows: Glogovica, Drljnova Glava (this one was probably misspelled), Niš, Zlata, Vulino Brdo and Priština. Obviously, the year 1915 is easily visible. I guess this division fought battles near these locations during that year.
Graf Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Balkan Collector provided a nice information. Also the front of the medal shows a Bulgarian soldier attacking a Serbian soldier (on the ground) with bayonet. Cheers
