I have a picture of an ancestor and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about his rank.

It is difficult from this view of the picture to guess the Rank

It looks like junior Officer Rank , however not sure

He is from Fielkd Artillery Regiment (FAR) 8.

With regards to rank I agree with Bayern. Kanonier, not officer.

Hello Grey C , Is not officer because officers wear sash and bandolier in silver thread with in the case of Prussia ,two black stripes .

I never said he was an officer. I said/wrote  I agree with your assessment of him being  a Kanonier.
