Yet another photo without a name needs help, this time a former seeflieger dressed in WWII water police uniform with some interesting badges shown, including a navy pilot commemorative badge and a navy wound badge. Again no signature on the back but a photographer stamp. Please share your comments.

    Hi Lew,

Nice with an original badge, these are very rare as less then 50 were awarded. No need for replacement badges as these were allowed for wearing also after leaving the Marine Air Force.

Lew, I think that you knew that Gross-Foto-Haus had their studio in Magdeburg. A small hint might be the

Kaptlt Otto Bertram* who was born in Magdeburg who received this award. But he is not listed in GMVL so no indication of being wounded.

*it existed another Kaptlt Otto Bertram who was an Reserve officer with similar career, but he was not born in Magdeburg and no indication of receiving the Marine Erinnerungsabzeichen.

The active officer Otto Bertram* was leader of several Marine flying units so it should exist fotos of him. I havent checked the "Chroniken" yet, but most Years contains photos.

Does the uniform indicates this rank or higher ?

    Gunnar

Hello Gunnar, that's very interesting information, yes the rank is Hauptmann der Wasserschutpolizei which is equivalent to Kapitänleutnant. However if this is Bertram in the photo it mean he got no promotion at least when entering his WWII service.

On Alex's website of https://kaisers-blaue-flieger.de/# there is a personal record on Otto Bertram, stating he actually received Erinnerungsabzeichen on 12.12.1918. He also got HoH.m.X as well as both classes of EK.
