Stogieman
I was the under bidder on this bar. Nicest Prussian bar I’ve seen in a very long time. The seller also sold a Grand Cross Albert Order (civil) and a First Class Zahringen Lion (also civil). I hope one of you won this!
VtwinVince
D'oh, I didn't even see this one. Fantastic.
Stogieman
I bid very high and still lost out
VtwinVince
There's an outside chance that one is researchable.
Stogieman
I agree and looking through the seller’s offer items I think it’s safe to say they came together. So there’s those additional clues
saschaw
I had seen this and wanted to obtain it for my collection, but then I had some technical difficulties at the critical moment, a few seconds before the offer's end. Given the current market, I don't think it was very expensive, and was to place a significantly higher bid... well, good for the buyer! On 24/08/2023 at 12:10, Stogieman said: The seller also sold a Grand Cross Albert Order (civil) and a First Class Zahringen Lion (also civil). Not to be over-precise, but none of them were "civil". They were peace-time, albeit awarded to a military. Also, the Albrecht was actually "only" a commander's cross, but that can only be distinguished by provenience, not the piece itself. The seller also had a Saxe-Ernestine house order commander's breast star and a Mecklenburg Griffin order officers' cross. This combination was enough to attribute the medals with some certainty to one individual, even before the ribbon bar appeared. It did confirm the assumption. The group can be attributed to a Prussian Generalleutnant, but given we don't know who obtained this ribbon bar, I do not simply want to publish the name. Schießplatzmeister
Hello All, This one one of the nicest grouping of items to appear "out-of-the-woodwork" on that "on-line flea market" site in a long time.! Best regards,
Stogieman
Hi Saschaw, thanks for the clarification and other clues. I agree on holding back the identification. I missed the other two items. I thought I had bid pretty high but guess I am underestimating the current market realities.
