    Possible Veterans NSDAP group.

    Hello Gents,

this is a bit of an unusual buy for me.

I’ve picked up this job lot from a house clearance. I assume the seller would have at least googled what he had, based on that I’m not expecting the third reich items to be original but hopeful they may have a little age to them.

    This is how it looks…

There were a couple of reasons I was interested.

    - The party medals and badges seem like they could complement each other, worn together rather than just randoms.
    - The cockade with the iron cross centre is, I believe, a veteran association piece. An unlikely choice for re-enactments.

    - I really want to know what is underneath the Brit ww2 defence medal ribbon!

Also for sale was this 1936 ‘family tree’ for this man 👇 From the parents names I think it is ‘Josef Paula’. Could there be a connection?8AB65D4A-3ABD-40A5-8CF9-350CD4C55DAD.thumb.png.ad3b663e5bcb0bd691d4a825a022f271.png

and a couple of other post war German items. As I said , all items from a house clearance dealer not a militaria dealer.

So Gents, I’m hoping 🤞 the awards turn out to be interesting copies with a bit of age that were maybe worn by a veteran post war at association meetings.
The runes, deaths head and eagle sleeve(?) patch are also, I have to presume, copies. Where they would fit into my imagined narrative, I don’t know… 😊

As soon as I receive them I will post pictures of the various bits and bobs

As always, all thoughts or opinions welcome Gents… & as the whole lot cost me just £40 there’s no need to spare my feelings!

    Cheers

    tony 🍻

    Hi Tony

Another interesting Lot For 40 GBP you can not go wrong

The Party Membership badges alone if they turn to be original or old copies are the most interesting items

Overall, in my opinion it is quite mixed lot Many of the items, at least at this stage do not look to have any link.

The name it could be Paula Josef  She was Assistant Administrative Person. She was Roman Catholic

    Very interesting Lot

I am looking forward for the next post , once you got the lot and have more information

    Cheers

    Well Gents,

these are finally in the post.

I worked out a deal for the family tree (and a signed Pulp Fiction poster 🤷‍♂️) to help keep him sweet 🤞.

I’ve gotta be honest though after waiting a week for them to be posted I’m a little worried that if anything was originally overlooked/unchecked, there has been plenty of time to replace it.

I hope I’m being unfair, but these things happen… so the wait has been killing me.

All will be answered in a day or two.

    cheers

    tony 🍻

There should not be M numbers on the items that have them.  They were not NSDAP items and therefore did not fall under the regulations covering the sale of Party insignia etc. The Kyffhauser cap badge appears to be authentic.

Thanks Gordon, I’ve been learning a little bit as I Google this stuff and check up on here but I didn’t know that 👍👍

The Kyfthauser badge is what made me wonder if some of the rest was.

Next up is these 2 👇The face of one has gone missing prior to postage…

Just the 2 medals left to follow but first this which I’d overlooked until now thinking it was modern navy not supposedly Kriegsmarine…

Maybe something above is different but I doubt it. One thing I’ve learnt is there are few things from the nazi Germany era that are not copied and for sale today.

I’m guessing the above and things before is all repro stuff and I’m bemused by the poor quality of much of what I’ve seen while looking these things up.

Why do they bother putting marks and stamps on historically inaccurate and poorly made reproductions? Why does anyone want to buy them if they look sh#t?  Is it to make the better fakes look good 🤷‍♂️

    Anyway,  the two medals.

and below the other which has had the detail broken off it  ( again prior to posting)

Its surprisingly heavy, weighing in at 46g with the ribbon.

    Farkas,

Your assumptions are correct.  They are either all fakes/repros or just plain fantasy badges.  To compare the numbered badges look at this site.  https://www.medalbook.com/germany-third-reich-1933-1945/badges/n-s-d-a-p-golden-party-badge/nsdap-golden-party-badge-large-version-1 .  I am not an expert but the badge on this site appears to be authentic.  You should do some research on the correct lettering on these badges.  The book published on these badges is long out of print and worth its weight in gold if you could find one and afford the price.  There are some collectors on WAF that know these badges very well.

    Regards,

    Gordon

Thanks Gordon, yet another variety. What a minefield. I had hoped something here  would have just a bit of age or would be interesting, the Veterans cap badge made me optimistic but I didn’t expect them, if they were knock offs, to be quite so poor. Having said that there are so many different looking examples, claimed to be genuine, maybe ‘they’ are confused even what to copy 🤷‍♂️

Fortunately I’m normally drawn to simpler areas of collecting (hoarding 😊)

    Cheers

Definitely all part of the fun. 👍
My recent weakness is British uniforms,  too late I’ve realised that 50 medals fit in a shoebox whereas 50 tunics have taken over my flat … there’s no hiding it.

But I’ve no wife to curtail me nor kids to feed so why not eh 😊

I thought the self appointed eBay police might let it go for charity, but i had had an initial look for a Jewish charity to ensure the irony of it being cancelled if they saw it, wish I’d done it now… 🙃

I did a side deal with someone who had sent me an offer and the charity missed out… so sod the rules!

I got 22! quid back so that’s half the job lot payed for already… 😊
