svapr Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Hello, I would like some advice about this award? I read that some crosses had a screw. What do you think in this case? Thanks.
pinpon590 Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Hi ! You may ask @Solomon for this question. Do you have a look on his website hausorden.de ? Greetings !
VtwinVince Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 I'm sceptical, do you have a photo with the disc removed?
pinpon590 Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 (edited) I have found on the web an other same cross, with another type of screw... Meybauer's made ? Edited January 6, 2024 by pinpon590
VtwinVince Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 I've seen the Meybauer example with cruciform back plate, a known variant.
VtwinVince Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Pin assembly varies from the originals I've handled, certainly not a Zimmermann piece.
bolewts58 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I think this is postwar. The pin assembly is a type commonly used by Heinrich Timm, Berlin.
ChrisKelly Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Yeah, dude. The image in the first post. That's a reproduction. Again, keep in mind that particular award is super-extra-rare. The chances of an average collector finding one are slim at best, unless you're at some high-end auction or trading with an elite specialty dealer. Should the collector locate one, expect it to be phenomenally expensive. Ergo, the rarer, more pricey awards are generally the most widely reproduced, and for a potentially profitable reason. It's still a decent quality fake. I'd give a seller $25USD for it. But only if shipping is postpaid.
svapr Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Hi, thanks for the information everyone. I admit that in the last case I don't know if it's a reproduction or an original (even if it was post-war).
