Stogieman Posted Friday at 11:50 Share Posted Friday at 11:50 Good Morning, I had communication with Carsten back in December and he let me know they would be closing and he was retiring. He stated the political climate in Germany as a contributing factor. There will be an updated version of his opus book on flight badges and that he will continue to collect but the shop will close. Thank you for the additional information Yes the World is not a very happy place at the moment Also, i learned that some countries are imposing restrictions and bans on WW2 German items, which i suspect will put burden on many sellers, dealers and collectors Cheers
VtwinVince Posted Friday at 15:36 Share Posted Friday at 15:36 Sorry to hear this, I had only good experiences dealing with Baldes. Regarding the political climate in Europe, I think the people there need to make some coherent demands of their so-called leaders, before it's too late. jaba1914 Posted Friday at 21:02 Share Posted Friday at 21:02 Is this really a lost. Come on. There are enough dealers where you can spend your money. That sounds like a funeral. If this are the most eminent chalanges of our time, we don't have any problems.
VtwinVince Posted Friday at 22:20 Share Posted Friday at 22:20 Sign of the times. Yes, there are lots of dealers, not the point. And as far as problems go, picking fights with heavily armed neighbours is a pretty stupid survival strategy. I could go on.

Stogieman Posted Saturday at 08:43 Share Posted Saturday at 08:43 Agreed!! A collector forum and relative news. I think a loss for the community and I wish Carsten only the best in his retirement.
VtwinVince Posted Saturday at 15:45 Share Posted Saturday at 15:45 I think Mr. Notopol is the agitated one, but I don't mince words either.
jaba1914 Posted Saturday at 18:14 Share Posted Saturday at 18:14 (edited) Sorry for not sharing the same opinion. This is my opinion and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Maybe I know Baldes better than others or had other experiences with him. I don’t think it is a loss either as a dealer and less for the community of aviation enthusiasts. But I wish him all the best for his retirement maybe he find more time to do serious research and learn more about the German aviation 😉 2 hours ago, VtwinVince said: I think Mr. Notopol is the agitated one, but I don't mince words either. A bit maybe but not really 😉 Edited Saturday at 18:19 by jaba1914
VtwinVince Posted Saturday at 22:32 Share Posted Saturday at 22:32 OK, I'm in agreement that he hopefully finds something useful to do in the future.
