J Temple-West Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 ....and I?m really, really glad And so you should be, Ricardo. An extremely nice example!Congratulations...
ricky1972 Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 Thanks Steve! Here?s another picture I?ve made with the badge Cheers,Ricardo
J Temple-West Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 OK, Ricy.... here's a sister to your badge...Same die flaws, wide right-hand swas' arm etc.
J Temple-West Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 ...But can you spot the difference on this one? Other than the crud, wear and cracking (A normal characteristic) to the wreath.
ricky1972 Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 Hi John! Thanks for the images!! I tried a lot but I couldn?t spot the difference between the two badges Am I blind? I even made a picture of them side by side...
Steve K. Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Compare the detail in the feathers and you may find the answer!
J Temple-West Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 The answer... The one with the "difference" has a swas with symmetrical arms. The vast majority of these badges have the wide right-hand arm, zinckers having the most pronounced form.A modified or repaired die? This maker certianly had problems, going on the die flaws and cracks found.Anyway, This is the reason I bought the worn one with symmetrical 'what-its'. Nothing special, but seldom seen.
ricky1972 Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 I was looking in the wrong place!! Can you indicate a book that covers the makers of awards? Not a just a list, but any additional info about them... I also tried to search more info about Prof. Richard Klein but never found any...Thanks,Ricardo
Steve K. Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 My mistake fellas!! I thought the bird was fake but the wreath was real....the right wing fletchings (when looking at the badge) look kinda strange.Interesting variation!! Hmmmmmm
ERIC Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 An excellent UM (FLL??) Pilot Ricardo! Great shot of the swaz comparison JTW!
Gary B Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I thought John might be trying to slip in a GWL Pilot badge..... For comparison can somebody put the FLL besides a GWL??Thanks.Gary B
J Temple-West Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I thought John might be trying to slip in a GWL Pilot badge..... For comparison can somebody put the FLL besides a GWL??Thanks.Gary BAs requested...

Paul R Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Nice badges!! What is the cause of the reddish color on the back of the first eagle?
ricky1972 Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 John, Thanks for your speedy reply...as always. Gary BHello Gary,I asked the same question on the other forum, and the most probable answer is the oxidation of Selenium - used on the badge finish.Cheers,Ricardo
