There were more than a few Serbian awards to Indians during WWI, and I wouldn't characterise them as rare (many more than the Belgian awards, for example, though fewer than the Russian ones).

    Excerpted from http://sagongs.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=242 ---

One american recive Montenegrin Obilich "For Bravery" Medal - General Pershing !

Somebody have photo of General Pershing with awards ?

I have seen one somewhere. Let me look.

Pershing's medals are at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. I once had a chance to play with them, decades ago. They are not on display at present, as there is no preceived interest. When the Museum of National History is refurbished (a process starting soon), there is some distant hope that some of their medals may go on display (again). They also have the McKay Collection (think: Ney's Order of the Three Fleece).

My father met Pershing when he (my father) was 10 years old. He was impressed, but did not care one bit about his medals (10-year olds!!).

    Hello Dave, Hello Igor

nice commander of Danilo, verry well preserved. Most Montenegrin orders are pretty worn as it is told that a decorated Montenegrin takes off his orders by the end of the day and puts them to his pyjama ! :P

Looking at the pictures without looking at the punch marks I would say that this is most probably a Austrian (Vincent Mayer&sons) work. French producers, mainly Arthus Bertrand have not made any punchmarks on the suspension loop.

    Best regards

    Milan

Here is my Order of Danilo I, Commander's Cross:
