David Mironovich Sup'yan's decorations passed by my house today for scanning (sigh!)--

I post these for the owner, who can't scan.

Oddly enough, Dave did NOT apparently ever have this in his paws-- though his Sinister Network must once again be invoked for The Full Treatment: Award Record Card, personnel file and FOUR World War Order citations (the final Red Star is obviously a 15 years long service one)

1945 edition Orders Book serial number A 755467

Red Star 311,745 from September/October 1943 (privileges began October)

    OPW2 116,666 probably circa December 1943

Aleksandr Nevsky 22,884 probably circa February 1945

OPW1 206,003 probably circa May 1945 (see the "Patriotic Cousins" thread)

MMM no number circa 1948 for 10years long service

ORS 3,154,406 circa 1953/54 for 15 years long service

Close ups of the Nevsky front

    and back

No medals with this group-- ONLY the decorations in the Orders Book. Artillery officer? Tank officer? Probably a Lieutenant Colonel by the end of the 1950s....

Yeah-- THIS guy didn't get these for pressing Marshal Zhukov's uniforms! (Sigh. Did I mention "sigh?")

Sup'yan's OPW 1st Class was 851 numbers below one I've had as a loose anonymous for years-- see thread:

Yup-- here it is: a "dimple" behind the hammer and sickle type variant that isn't listed in McDaniel & Schmitt among all the variations.

this one has coal colored never-touched patina and VERY small engraved serial number right across the dimple, so hard to make it visible.

deep dark red, and because this is the thin type, the vaulted arms seem even more curved than they really are.

Nope... Never owned that one, but had it been offered to me I surely would have bought it! I'm a sucker for ethnic award groups!

Well, he wasn't Armenian, but Belorussian and Jewish! Here's some info from the archives about our dear friend Mr. Supyan. No award card yet though...

And the reverse. My researcher says this is quite an interesting group as he was sent to a "board of honor" Perhaps one of our Russian speakers can tell us more?

    Excellent group, thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Can you add anything to Rick's helpful summary of the documents we have in hand? Thanks (again) in advance.
