Not may have access to YJ auctions. And third party bidding companies can limit your bidding at times too. Need to try to persuade them why you want to bid 2,500,000+ yen and they may want to see if you can put a deposit maybe.

I have seen them from the Chinese sellers for $1 with free shipping from China a year back, haven't really noticed any right now. There are a bunch from Israel for $5...

Seen it a few times already. The red communist type ribbons were removed and these ribbons were placed instead, it seems. Nice touch with the sun on the ribbon.

Yeah need more motivation to get rid of the fakes... His tactics are effective, we are talking about it right now. Although I don't think any of us will buy his items.

The sticker is probably identifying the lot number from an auction. I am starting to see many fakes on these live auctions (not like the online auctions like ebay).

As long it is colored in the lines it is fine. So many nice medals.

There is a set of the order in the military museum in Taipei that has the blue enamel scattered all over the display. I am not sure if that is actually Chiang's or not as there are many items belonging to him that are displayed. 20k is still a lot of money for a vague letter. How I see it, the letter for the hat/epaulettes does say it was custom made and given by Madame Chiang with the President's blessing, but no proof if he actually wore it or even owned it. I bought a presentation medal on auction that the auctioneer stated belonged to well known US general and the owner was going to get me a letter from the granddaughter stating this, nothing so far. Other than that, I only put the money on the medal and not the statement itself.

Also lots of damage to enamel and to the tiger. The second layer is not silver?? It looks like a brass type of metal is showing beneath. Or is it gilded and most of it gone showing the silver beneath...?

Some people think that looking at a overpriced auction, it automatically sets the price for their item. I assume they gave a 6,000 discount because of the missing box and ribbon

I guess some people can wait patiently... Did anybody ever tell him that Cloud and Banner is a 6th class and not a 3rd class? I was going to, but sometimes trying to help a dealer can get you on their bad side lol. With the prices they sell at, I think dealers need to do their own research and not get it for free from others... they are the ones making the money.

A lot of Asian medals do have similar European concepts. Any other countries use the same type of eye and hook?

The seller is listing this as a "Chinese" medal and has several others that he assumes Chinese even though it does not look Chinese. The only thing I can see being close to Chinese is the 5 colored rings/circle that represents the five races of China, and with the red being center, is not a Manchukuo type (yellow would be the center). But without any writing to identify it, this is a tough one.

I saw that in an auction... and I just noticed the website that bought this is asking of an exorbitant markup. Even the price that was bought for at the auction is much higher than the current prices for the Taiwan period made ones. They need to research medal prices a little more... The medal posted in post #100 and 101 need to cut of a digit, it would be more reasonable.

I have something similar. It is made in several pieces and silver. But I can't tell the authenticity of it.
