    2. Let me discribe the "Imperial Colonial Wound Badge". Instead of the usual steel helmet displayed in the center, there is a spiked pith helmet and the swords are replaced by crossed spears.
    3. Were Verw-abz awarded in 1918 for the Boxeraufstand eighteen years earlier?
    4. The Verwundeten-Abzeichen was created in 1918 - The Boxeraufstand was 1900 -1901
    5. The badge depicts an Albatros bird. My opinion is not that Albatros GmbH had the badge ordered, but that former pilots and observers of single and double seater Albatros biplanes wore them.
    6. "I will post the picture of Great-Grandfather's uncle when I find it. found it!! [attachmentid=34146] Oh, Kev was right about one thing, he is wearing it inside his jacket
    7. Please Gentlemen, I have seen this badge before, in fact my Great-Grandfather's uncle had one (got the picture of him wearing it, but can't find it right now) it is the Kaiserliche-Graben-F?hrer-Abzeichen (imperial trench pilot badge) not to be confused with the Kaiserliche-Graben-Beobachter-Abzeichen (imperial trench observer badge) that one is without the swords. I will post the picture of Great-Grandfather's uncle when I find it. All the Best Hardy
    8. Does anybody know what this is? It came together with Ernst Kempfer's medal bar Albatros Werke GmbH

    11. On the right side of the base is engraved the number 1264921 either a POW number or his military service number. Hi Kev, looks like Arthur was in a Gebirgsj?ger unit he was taken to the American POW camp in Heilbronn (my father and was there as well as a POW) first then was transfered to a camp in France. the # 1264921 I belive is a Feldpostnummer and was scratched in the mess tin before the POW-camp-art a common way to mark personal gear. Will check later tonight what unit carried that FPN. All the Best Hardy
    12. Sorry, I did not understand your question. googled and found this: Reserve officers: Reserve officer candidates of the Waffen-SS, after taking a preparatory course and Reserve-F?hrer-Bewerber-RFB, became SS-junker der Reserve and then attended a reserve officer candidate course (Reserve-junker-Lehrg?ng), held at a special-service school of the Waffen-SS which lasted about 4 months. After the mid-term examinations they became Standartenjunker der Reserve, and after the final examinations Standartenoberjunker der Reserve. Foreign officers of the reserve (Waffen-F?hrer der Reserve) also attended the reserve officer candidate courses.
    13. Hello, The SS used the same Waffenfarben as the Wehrmacht. Waffenfarben refer to Arm-of Service not rank. The dark green Waffenfarbe is either Gebirgsj?ger or Polizei. Hardy

    16. Hello, I grew up in the 60's near Pforzheim. The small town had a factory branch of the Schmuckwaren Fabrik Speidel Pforzheim. In the early 70's the factory had some renovations, a school friend of mine rumaging through the waste bins found several cardbord boxes full of iron crosses and parts. The iron crosses were only partially finished - they were EK2s without the the loop to hold the ring attached. Some were just unpainted cores in a very rusty condition and some of the boxes had frame parts. I kept a partially finished EK2, but don't know what happened to it. Hardy
    17. Gerd, if you can get a clear closeup scan of the shoulder piece on pic.6 you will be able to tell the Regiment of the Gefreiter. All the Best, Hardy
