      Tugra

I'm not sure I understand your statement. Do you mean that the impression in the back is the same, but concave, of the Tugra image on the front? The shape doesn't line-up correctly. I don't believe the impression made into the back of the TWM is the negative mold image of the Sultan signature (Tugra) from the front. Is this what you meant?
    3. Hello Andy; Yes, it hardly needs to be said, but you doc is perfectly ok. In fact it confirms his rank and in this case his occupation. Considering the unit stamp (BTW ) I would say he was the veterinarian for the unit's horses. That's cool. Nice group.
    4. Hello Saschaw; Did you ever fill the Turkish award in this medal bar? Or is there still too much ambiguity to be sure which one goes in? Secondly, Is that a medal suspension clasp peeking between the Tamar ribbons? What "medal" would hang from it? Is there a Tamar hanging version?

      Tugra

I beg your pardon? Can you explain, or is there a thread that discusses this further...

Here are two TMW Tugras, to the same gent. This is the "BB&Co" one
    9. Hello Chris; Do you have a - Vice-Steuermann Paul Kutzner? Served in the navy...U-boot service...was stranded in North Africa...POWed...returned to Germany in October 1920. Thank you in advance,
    10. George, both of these items are great! Thank you for sharing them.
    11. These were also in my imp. Rus. riker mount. When I bought them many years ago I always imagined getting the law school badge also. They would make a nice set. But my collecting hasn't moved in that direction... Does anyone have a period photo of someone wearing this kind of button?
    12. Are those calvary pants No 2 is wearing? (Notice the strap that goes around the sole of the boots?) What does the Chinese Double Dragon throat award look like? Does anyone have a photo of one?
    13. Someone say fliegertruppen!? The casualties list will rule out some pilots, but anyway to eliminate the medical guy? (Other than ALL eight pilots being KIA during the war.)
    14. I found this thread and photo... Now this is an interesting portrait. He wears the EK2 like he just earned it, but he has a EK1 and a FA1 pinned on. He has a NAVAL wound badge, but he is not wearing a naval tunic. His hat has only one (country) cockade...See Battalion? Would he get an Oldenburg award if serving with the Kaiser's See Marines?
    15. Beau, Thank you for photos of a genuine article and for your concise and thorough description of the features that identify this piece as authentic. I had no idea what to look for and as a rule would not considered any of these badges for purchase. (a good thing too) -Claudius
    16. The soldiers would be from the III See Battalion. As the 1st and 2nd See Battalions were headquartered in port cities in Germany.
    17. Thank you to you both! I find it very informative.
    18. Still no explanation of what he was doing wandering around during the war NOT in the navy, or how he got a "combatant" Iron Cross-- for that he recieved a combatant Iron Cross?
    19. Hello; With regards to the awarding of the Rising Sun and the Sacred Treasure, does anyone know how it was determined which would be awarded? Especially to a foreigner? For a brief moment, I thought the ST wasn't awarded to outsiders, but I know that's not true. I have seen examples of either being awarded (not both -yet) and I wondered if there was some criteria that can be deduce as to why the RS was given and not the ST. Or vice-versa. Preference, time-frame, the dignitary/delegation providing it, for a humanitarian or military advisor role, etc.? Assuming of course all things being equal concerning the proper class award)
    20. Great set Alex! It's always nice to see those Hansas mounted...and identified. :jumping:
