    1. Hi Bison, yup, 2 REI, but before my time... this was in 1972. Some of the Legion songs on youtube have been done by a choir and are nowhere near as "good" as when sung by a compagnie... Here is one of my all time favourites.... not only a legion song...
    2. Sorry... pardon the pun... Marching songs in the foreign legion are really part of the tradition.... often accompanied by cursing and punishment... only once in 5 years was I part of a company that once sang a song so perfectly that you could feel the guys thinking " me... this is perfect"... and folks all over the parade ground turned to watch us march by... This is not perfect... but really, really nice...
    3. Hmm... someone promoted Lt d. Res in 1918 may very well have worn the DA3....

    8. Was he really fully a terrorist operative? Or was he an idiot who made his own agenda after surfing the internet and exchanging a few emails? where is the bar between being a murdering homicide guy, and being an enemy combatant? did milititary personel killed in the twin towers get one? best Chris
    9. Hi Bernhard, Thank you for the posts on this subject. When i have a moment I shall try get my thoughts down as well. Best Chris
    10. Probably just an old guy who was not in regular service, the medals arrived in 1920 and lay in a drawer... then he mounted them as he thought they should be mounted... Lots of old servicemen have/had little contact to rules and regulations after having left tghe service for so long. Could also have been mounted by the family years after te event. We can guess, and one guess is as good as another... but I think we will never know... Best Chris
    11. Can anyone confirm the MBE citation in this article? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/military-obituaries/special-forces-obituaries/9961915/Fred-Marafono.html?fb Thanks Chris
    12. IMHO it would be wrong to award them... even if the victims have my sympathies... If this was the case, where would you stop? Any soldiers wounded by Tim Mcveigh?
    13. I am really, really happy to be able to show these two articles Henk wrote about medals to Boers who served in the Anglo Boer war. These appeared a number of years apart. I think they will be of great interest to many collectors. Certain portions of text can be found in both articles, but I thought if would be beneficial to post both articles in their entirety. The Original article, with the variations http://www.kaiserscross.com/40184/465722.html A later version of the article with a bit on the wound ribbons http://www.kaiserscross.com/40184/465743.html And a huge thatnks to Henk Loots for allowing me to use them. They are THE articles abouth the award.....
