My deutsche maschinenfabrik also has totally off the wall markings... Same crown D on the back, where this one has a 7X mine has an 8something... also a unit stamp 1.P.upside down 2.35 Best Chris

What Sascha says sound like a good theory. It would reinforce the theory that the stamps were there as part of a control system as opposed to advertising? I am betting though... given the relatively small % of LV crosses in the mass... that they did not have up to 88 small firms making for them? -

The seller was very accomadating and was nice enough not to go for the jugular... so it was not cheap... but I still have my underwear and food on the table ... lets say it was very fair :-) it is a veeeery illusive unit, but I may be getting some photocopies of the regt history, which should help me a bit...

Maybe someone back then copied the Küst crosses one to one.... then Küst cried "copyright" and they could only be sold withouth the stamp? Sometimes there are simple commercial answers.... are the ones woth the name scratched out 100% the same as those with the name?

That is fantastic. Funny how the Internet has made many sections of the hobby more serious and knowledgable... I remember about 10 years ago having a Beamte tunic, knew nothing abouth them, a local friend says "are not combat troops, value about half of a comabt troops jacket..." and i sold it as such.....
