    3. A fine looking bar indeed! Good luck on the identification. What is the award to the right of the Ehrenkreuz? Best Chris
    4. Fantastic. I read somewhere that the Turkish soldiers in Korea were held in very high esteem.
    5. Hi, is it the South African Version of the Victory medal?
    6. OK, the doc shows it to be the same unit. From what I can see, he lost a hand/Arm in WW1... and was attached to Stalag I B POW camp, at least atr the end of the war. Best Chris
    7. I think pics like these show how important the simple EK2 was...
    8. This is a pretty cool one ... :-)
    9. This is a scarce box.... for belted MG Ammo... takes 8 wooden boxes of 250 rounds each... so 2000 belted rounds....
    10. Hi, good thinking, I googled as well, but the hit gives it that for (28.4.1940-14.9.1940)apparently they were reassigned a number of times during the war. It is probably a different unit a year later. best Chris
    11. Yeah right! I am going to go out and buy a collection just like it!!! ;-) Fantastic Will, especially when one considers it is simply "one of" your collections...
    12. He probably missed the beginning of the war then... maybe commisioned later? Does anyone have a way of checking the WW2 Feldpost nummer? Thnaks Chris
    13. I recieved the following info... Charles Emile Samuel Chambeau. 3 in Königsberg/ Pr. Lt. Feldpostnummer 00862 v. 18.08.1941 Oberleutnant. Lt. "Ausweis" (Blatt Papier, so bezeichnet) v. 31.01.1945 Rittmeister. Räumungstransport des Stalag I B Hohenstein von Stargard i.P. nach Teterow. Nach weiteren Unterlagen von Dez 1917 - Nov. 1918 Spionage- Abwehr. I assume then he served in The Cavalry, staying in the service until 1925, then being activated and serving in a POW camp? Best Chris
    14. I wonder how Army Fitness compared then to now? I realise the boots were not "it", but I remember in the army there was a standard 8km run with kit and anyone taking longer than 45 minutes would get a clip on the ear. Best Chris
    15. Hi, yup, it is "Hohmann & Sohn, Kaiserslautern 1914" Best Chris
    16. Hi Jan, Thanks, Waht a pity about the BRIR22 !!! Murphys law of Regt histories... you never find the ones you need.... Best Chris
    17. I think a not too expensive (in retail back then) cross from the interwar years. best Chris
    18. Yup, its flat. What I noticed right away, the bck plate and the flat part of the rim are thinner than usual, and the guy who did the soldering was a real professional, no blobs of solder. as a result, the cross is very flat.
    19. Imagine being a young Lt in 1939 and having this guy in your unit.... I think you would develope a slight medal complex...
