    1. How many medals can one realistically expect to grace the chest of a Prussion LT? I have bought a M15 jacket (not here yet) with original loops to it... but I assume that the shoulder boards dont really go with it. It has LT Pionier boards, loops for what looks to be the Turkish "red star" on the right, EK1, wound and what must be a 4-5 medal bar. I tghink the loops are original and not the boards.... how many LTs would have that many medals, especially prussinas!
    2. hmmmm... that complicates things.... will posta a pic as soon as it arrives. The litzen looked like a subdued form of WW2 litzen... watch this space...
    3. The guy in the middle wearing the Iron Cross 1st class as well? Man... anything to light up a chest!
    4. Hi, A topic I am a bit in the dark on.... Just what units DID wear Litzen? I thought it was only Garde or Leib Regiments, but it seems there was more than just that? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris
    5. And I have the EK2 docs to Oblt Burchardt on that page and to the soon to arrive Major Bayer who commanded one of the battalions of the regt in 1914.... 3 men who would have known each other to a certain degree... small world.... ;-)
    6. 14.07.–24.07.1916 Schlacht an der Somme 09.08.–16.09.1916 Stellungskämpfe in Flandern und Artois 18.09.–02.10.1916 Schlacht an der Somme 09.10.1916–01.04.1917 Stellungskämpfe im Artois 02.04.–20.05.1917 Frühjahrsschlacht bei Arras Must have been for the Somme. They were there for a while in July, went to Flanders/Artois to recuperate then went back into the Somme battle. Dont know offhand where they were..
    7. Well Frank.. IMHO you are just jealous of the Russians... who seem to wear things awarded by just about anyone :-)
    8. I think the rUSSIAN gENERALS HAVE THEIR ORDER WORKED OUT BY THE aIRFORCES 2WEIGHT AND BALANCE2 GUYS WHO WORK OUT THE LOADING OF THE CARGO AIRCRAFT: They simply choose an order that allows the general to stand upright, without tipping to the left, right, or falling flat on his a§§ because of an unbalanced jacket! :-)
    9. If you are visiting the department of agrriculture.. their medals first... if you are visiting the department of the interior.. theirs first... It must be like musical chairs :-)
    10. where or what is that? In Canada? Best Chris
    11. Hi, does anyone know how many Germans were killed at Sea in WW1? Thanks Chris
    12. A silly question from a not really uniform guy.... just which units could use litzen in WW1? Initially I thought only guard? I am thinking about a M15 jacket with M15 litzen...
    13. Hi, The date a regimental commander signs an EK doc has no reflection on the date of the award. Many docs are dated and signed months (in same cases 1-3YEARS after the award. Notice the date is the date SIGNED not AWARDED. Best Chris
    14. Indeed... but he was long dead by then... :-( Having said that... I have a 14th Sturmbattalion EK doc and 2 other EK docs to the division... awarded in the month BEFORE the attack...
    15. I am looking for the name and unit of an officer killed on a certain date... Does anyone know a source that mayx help? Thanks Chris
    16. How do you know he is not hiding it in his hat?!?!?!?!?
    17. Does anyone know which German troops took part in the raid on the US positions at Seicheprey 20-22 April? On Regimental sites from the US It always says "Elite Prussian Guard stormtroopers" but that is not very helpful. A regiment or division would help me out no end... Thanks Chris
    18. are you sure?? I know a few Germans who self publish and distribute. Best Chris
    19. Harry adds to Africa again with the Yoni Campaign! http://www.kaiserscross.com/188001/231201.html
    20. This guy was supposed to be in Garde Grenadier Regt 3... Maybe in the Prussian Garde liste? Best Chris
    21. Hi, yes, it is a 1917 design by Reich. Here is a part of the doc... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=8085...hl=hitzelberger I really need to get a good scan done... have only ever seen one of them.
    22. I think the Landhutter Auction house had one on an officers Tschako, but I did not like it. Went for a fortune though! On the special death certificate for the Alpenkorps they have a drawing with a grave with a Tschacko, Picklehaube and Artillery haube, all with cloth covers and with Edelweis on.
