    1. It was a REAL barn find, the drum and roller were 100% rust covered.... Seems to be a rare early drum without the writing stamped into it.....
    2. ... but then again, too few to mention.... But one bears mentioning here.... I forgot to take some pics of this in the "As found" time.....
    3. Yozu often read british accounts that claim the boers did not have the nerve to face cold steel and ran away when the British broke into their positions with bayonets and swords... This overlooks the fact that the boers did not have bayonets or swords ;-)
    4. WOW! This was the kind of price RK winner death cards commanded!!! http://cgi.ebay.de/Sterbebild-1-WK-Kranken...%3A1%7C294%3A50
    5. The engraving looks pretty new for a beat up old revolver? Best Chris
    6. A nice medal... now you just need the document!
    7. Just someone on the GMIC terrorism watch list... ;-)
    8. I once saw a thread on a french forum. There were 2-3 factories in France that made trench daggers out of broken bayonets. Maybe a wooden handle is missing?
    9. Looks like a dagger made wit the tip of a lebel bayonet? Nice.
    10. I think Gottlieb mainly makes copies? Or is he sending you mails TELLING you to authentificate this piece?....... ;-)
    11. I think the SS stamps look a little fishy... unless it is "Size: Small" ;-)
    12. Did you hear about the Polish pioneer serving in the flamethrower regiment? Rodney Dangerfield could have made a career on that opener!.... :-)
    13. Amazon.com for Douglas Porch's "The conquest of Morocco" Read it and you to will want to own one of these medals. A fantastic, historical, bloodthirsty, informative narration... for me it was a MUST and kick started my interest in Morocco.
    14. Fantastic set, and much more so when you get the CD!!!!!!!
    15. But realistically.... most nations have low quality medals nowdays, not only the Germans...
    16. Hi, does anyone know a good source with info about the fighting the Big Red One did in June-July 1918 at Soissons? Thanks Chris
    17. Hi, is there anyone here who is a bit interested in tanks? I am looking for a volunteer who could write about half a page (or more if they want!) on the german tank (Crew, weapons etc. etc.) It would be part of this page... http://www.kaiserscross.com/40029/224301.html It would of course be credited. Thanks Chris
    18. I used to run ads in Germany, On occasion I did hundreds of KM to see stuff that was "From the family" or "From a friend"... About 50% were "Plants" from hobby dealers and flea market sellers. 30% was good but absolute dross, 15% was OK, but not earth shattering and 5% was pretty nice. In the end I packed it in, there is not enough to make it worthwhile. To make a go of it these guys have to buy at local shows, from local collectors, from flea markets etc. etc. Like I said, for me this would have to stand 100% on the piece, without any of his story. The question is, can a one off hand made piece stand on its own? Best Chris
    19. Hi, indeed! I dont want to be too negative either, just looking at it through the same microscope I would have if I was buying. Best Chris
    20. Hi, not in all cases, often they are just a simple leutnant whose name is mentioned because he commanded a section, many Generals and super heroes have no mention while the simple fact that one was a company commander in the right place and time or Gefreiter who got an EK1 MAY have gotten you onto the list. As the reichsarchive books are (each) so very different in their formats, different volumes (for different battles) mentions very different kinds of men. It is VERY hit and miss, but if you ARE lucky enough to find a mention, it is pretty cool.
    21. Indeed... if he was a rank amature house clearer selling pots, pans, kiddies toys and every 200th piece is some militaria I would say "Yeah!" But he has 9000 militaria things sold and going back 6 pages in his history, EVERYTHING he sells that is not a photo has "Originalst?ck frisch vom Dachboden aus einem Nachlass!".. Very unusual for a guy with so much Militaria turnover. He also seems to be very knowlegable with what he sells. I dont think he exists exclusively outside of collector circles. His feedback leaves him (for me, IMHO) as trustworthy as any other small time dealer whose every badge "... has just come out of a Nachlass in the neighbours attic".. I to have bought from him on many occasions, but think I would take the story of tghe origin with a pinch of salt...
    22. There are STILL non Epson folks amongst the collectors??????!!!! ;-)
