    1. Hi, What are these exactly? I got them from a guy who told me they are Rhodesian.... but some time ago someone else said the Rhodies did not have metal ones....
    2. So simple yet sooooo good. Today I finally picked up the set of boards that would grace the Jacket that has been laying around patiently for so long..... 155 IR (I hope... at least....) One of the BIG Verdun units, from the 10 RD.
    3. Take PST as an example... http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Scholl-Latour German-French Finished studies in Germany in 43, wanted to cross into France to join the Army, then decided to join Tito, captured by the Gestapo... then in 1945 in Indochina. Lets assume Grosch did 5 years.... he would have joined in January 1945, maybe an Alsatian (inspite of where he was born?) Whatever, it must have been an interesting story....
    4. Hi, Nice! Is it possible to get a better scan of the gun on the right? Can I use it for the site? Thanks Chris
    5. It bears pointing out (For those more into collecting than history) that although we have it as the Flanders cross, it is more of a Marinekorps cross. "The Somme" is not Flanders, but there were Marinekorps regiments there during the battle, hence a "Somme" bar on a "Flanders" medal. There were also a handful of Navy dudes at Verdun, but obviously in such small numbers that no "Verdun" clasp was introduced. best Chris
    6. Hi, It was signed by Capitaine Audibert, commanding the 3rd Batl de Marche, Inf leger d'Afrique. The Battalion was made up of men of the 4th and 5th BILA. Best Chris
    7. I assume it was an end of war catchup doc, for guys who maybe just had Milit?rpass entries etc. etc. to make up for docs lost of maybe never handed out. Sold for EUR18 as an EK2 doc, so I am not complaining.....
    8. Hi, Any ideas about which unit this man could be in?
    9. This is an interesting doc....
    10. Hi, possible I suppose... I thought of it as 3 equal stripes...
    11. Hi, Here is a battalion level document...
    12. Is this the British North Borneo Company medal? Thanks Chris
    13. Hi, this pic was taken in Pretoria, I assume just before the Boer war? I am not sure what medal it could be?
    14. Here is a question that i had never given much thought to... Did a citation at battalion level get a CdG if there was no chance of getting a Regt citation? By this I mean independent battalions who were not part of a regt. Thanks Chris
    15. Hi, When someone (Like a pilot) buys a silver piece, surely they look for something that is finer, better, nicer than the issue one? Something where the quality justifies the price? Best Chris
    16. Hi Vet, great answer! As the HAss book is my only reference on this it is important for me to hear a different view. Best Chris
    17. Going through uniforms and equipment of the British Army WW1 it seems to be a Pouch for Webley rounds. In the photos of the MPs and other units with pistols they all seem to have had this on the belt. Best Chris
    18. Follow the thread above...... the book published in 1994 for about EUR30 went for EUR300... A good reference book that is not reprinted writes its own cheque. 5 of these would be a good investment ;-)
    19. ummmmm.. what are they exactly? Best Chris
